Cambria isn't a place that rewards rushing. This small Central Coast village sits between forested hills and the Pacific, with Moonstone Beach on one side and independent shops, restaurants, galleries, and tasting rooms on the other.

This itinerary isn't designed to show you everything in Cambria. It's designed to help you have a really good two days there.

Where to Stay

For this itinerary, staying along Moonstone Beach Drive makes sense. You'll have the Pacific close by while remaining only a few minutes from Cambria's village.

Moonstone Landing — Best for Oceanfront Location

A locally owned property directly across from Moonstone Beach, this is a strong choice for travelers who want the coastline to be part of the stay rather than simply somewhere they visit.

White Water — Best for a Special Getaway

A more design-conscious boutique option with a relaxed Central Coast character, particularly suited to couples or travelers who want the hotel itself to feel like part of the getaway.

Castle Inn — Best for Practical Value

A straightforward Moonstone Beach option that keeps you close to the water without requiring the more upscale experience.

Day 1 — Arrive, Unpack, and Slow Down

Aim to arrive in Cambria during the early afternoon. Check into your hotel, leave the luggage behind, and resist the temptation to immediately start checking attractions off a list.

Instead, spend your first few hours getting acquainted with the village. Wander Main Street, browse locally owned shops and galleries, stop for coffee if something catches your eye, and leave some room for discovery.

Late Afternoon — Moonstone Beach

As the afternoon begins to wind down, head toward Moonstone Beach. Walk part or all of the coastal boardwalk, stop at the overlooks, and give yourself time to simply watch the Pacific.

There is no need to turn the walk into another task. The coastline is the experience.

Dinner — Robin's Restaurant

For the first evening, head into the village for dinner at Robin's Restaurant. Its relaxed atmosphere and globally influenced cooking make it a good arrival-night choice.

After dinner, stop. Return to Moonstone Beach, enjoy your hotel, or simply call it an early evening. Tomorrow is the main Cambria day.

Day 2 — Trails, Cambria Flavors, and Coastal Wine

Breakfast

If you're visiting on a weekend, start at The Hidden Kitchen for its distinctive blue-corn waffles and casual outdoor setting. Because operating days can vary, weekday travelers should check current hours and use a local breakfast alternative when needed.

Morning — Fiscalini Ranch Preserve

Spend the morning at Fiscalini Ranch Preserve, where coastal trails and bluff-top views provide one of Cambria's defining outdoor experiences.

This doesn't need to become an athletic achievement. Walk as far as feels right, watch for wildlife, use the benches, and stop when the scenery gives you a reason to stop.

Lunch — Linn's

Return to the village for lunch at Linn's. Cambria and the olallieberry have become closely associated, so this is an especially appropriate place to try a slice of olallieberry pie.

Afternoon — Cutruzzola Vineyards

Now make one wine stop — not three.

Visit Cutruzzola Vineyards in Cambria. Its focus on cool-climate Riesling and Pinot Noir grown near the coast makes this tasting particularly well suited to a Cambria itinerary.

Check current tasting-room hours and arrangements before your trip.

Take a Break

Go back to your hotel. Browse another shop. Have coffee. Read. Sit by the ocean.

We've deliberately built some unscheduled time into the afternoon.

Late Afternoon — Back to Moonstone Beach

Return to the coast as the light begins to change. Walk another portion of Moonstone Beach or simply find a comfortable place to watch the Pacific.

Dinner — Brydge

Make the second evening the more special dinner. Brydge offers the intimate, chef-driven meal that provides a nice contrast to the first night's more casual experience.

Afterward, don't schedule anything else.

Departure Morning — Coffee, One Last Look, and Home

There's no need to turn departure morning into another packed itinerary.

Stop at Cambria Coffee Company for coffee, then take one last look around the village or coastline before starting home.

If You Have 3 More Hours

Visit Hearst Castle

Rather than sacrificing a large part of one of your two Cambria days to a timed attraction, add Hearst Castle when your schedule gives you a few more hours.

Its location near San Simeon makes it a natural extension of a Cambria getaway while allowing Cambria itself to remain the purpose of the original 48 hours.

Check current tour schedules and make reservations in advance when appropriate.

If You Have One More Day

Follow Highway 1 North

Turn the additional day into a coastal drive. Head north toward San Simeon, stop at the Elephant Seal Vista Point, and continue toward Ragged Point as time, weather, and road conditions allow.

There is no prize for reaching a particular turnaround point. Stop when the scenery tells you to stop.

A winter travel note: Highway 1 conditions deserve particular attention during the rainy season. Slides, debris, construction, flooding, or temporary closures can change what's practical along the coast. Check current Caltrans road conditions shortly before leaving Cambria rather than relying only on the itinerary you read when planning your trip.

Before You Go

Check restaurant and tasting-room hours shortly before traveling, particularly during the quieter winter season. Reserve the experiences that would seriously disappoint you to miss, but don't schedule every hour.

Bring layers. Coastal weather can change considerably between morning, afternoon, and evening.

If you're planning to drive Highway 1, check current road conditions before setting out, especially during winter weather.

Most importantly, leave some room in the itinerary for Cambria itself.

The goal isn't to spend 48 hours checking things off a list. It's to come home feeling like you actually went somewhere.
